Time flies so fast! It feels like just yesterday I was posting about my indecision over which Hobonichi to use for 2026, still recovering from not really enjoying my Hobonichi Weeks MEGA in 2025.

Now it’s August 2026, which means it’s that time of year again when Hobonichi lovers everywhere start checking daily for news on what lines will release next year. And that includes me!!

Daily Journaling: Hobonichi HON A6

For the past two years, every single time Hobonichi drops their new lineup, my brain goes into overdrive trying to figure out which Hobonichi I should get and in what design. In 2025, I went with the Weeks MEGA for my daily journaling (read why I USED TO think “Why Hobonichi Weeks Mega Feels Right” here and “How I Set Up My Hobonichi Weeks Mega” here). By the end of the year, I was spiraling. I didn’t enjoy using it, and worse, I had no idea what would actually work for me in 2026. Eventually I decided on the Hobonichi HON A6, and I’m so glad I did, because I ended up loving it.

That’s what makes this year’s decision easy. For 2027, I’m sticking with what worked: Hobonichi HON A6, same as 2026.

The only real choice left is the design.

Last year, Hobonichi gatekept the Moomin edition to Japan only, but this year they finally opened it up to the official store worldwide. I was hoping that meant a Moomin HON might be on the table for 2027. Sadly, there isn’t one. With the design options this limited, I’ve decided to go with the Hiroko Kubota design again, same as my 2026 one. It has a nice gradation of pink-blue colors and a philosophically beautiful design, as Hobonichi writes: “It beautifully captures nostalgic interactions and that perfect flow of time you wish would last forever as the crescent moon slowly waxes.”

Commonplace Notebook: Hobonichi Graph Notebook A6

For the past two years, I’ve always used the Hobonichi Graph Notebook A6 for my commonplace notebook. Most of them have been the Hiroko Kubota design, with one exception: a cover by Naoki Ishikawa, which I picked only because I’d run out of pages and had no other option at the time at the store.

Now, I’m happy to say there’s finally a design I’m genuinely excited about: the Moomin edition. I remember this one clearly from last year, when it was sold only in Japan. I still remember the sting of knowing I couldn’t get my hands on that cute Moomin notebook with the Finnish text on the cover. This year, it’s finally available internationally.

Little My Drawer Pouch Ane

Ever since I fell in love with Hobonichi two years ago, I’ve wanted their Drawer Pouch Ane. Two years ago, the design I really wanted showed up at the shop in Finland, Mic and Mim, where I usually buy my journaling kit, but by the time I decided to buy it, they’d already sold out. The next time around, the shop simply didn’t carry it at all.

This year, I kept my eyes on the Hobonichi announcements and set my sights on the Little My Drawer Pouch Ane. But when Mic and Mim listed their stock, it wasn’t there. I messaged them directly, and it turns out the Little My Drawer Pouch Ane is only available through the Hobonichi Japan website.

What kind of curse is this, that I always fall for the one pouch I can never buy?

This post goes up on August 31st, and tomorrow morning, my local store in Finland opens orders at 5 AM. I’ll be up early with my wishlist ready, fingers crossed that this time the Little My Drawer Pouch Ane doesn’t slip through my fingers again.
