My Favorite Flowers to Bring Home

It has been quite a while since I last wrote an update about my flower care hobby. The last time I regularly shared about taking care of them, I remember how each bouquet came with its own kind of challenge, some needed a little extra attention and specific care routines.

Now, after spending time with different kinds of flowers, I’ve started to develop my own preferences. There are certain flowers I always look forward to bringing home, like some for their fragrance while others for how long they last in a vase.

Lily, Flowers That Fill the Room with a Lovely Scent

From my experience of keeping bouquets at home, I’ve realized how powerfully lily can change the atmosphere of a space. Every time I walk in from outside, the fragrance greets me before anything else. It feels as if my home has turned into a little flower garden, even when there are only a few stems sitting quietly in a vase. That lingering scent leaves such a strong, comforting impression on me.

Carnations, The Easiest and Longest-Lasting

Since I started volunteering to rescue flowers, I’ve come across carnations quite often. They’re humble, sturdy, and always seem to find a second life in someone’s home. Some stems grow shorter near the bottom, which means we have to trim and sort them. The shorter ones are usually left behind, but I love taking them home.

I place them in my reused pasta or jam jars and scatter them around the house. A few in the kitchen, some by the window, others near my desk. And the best part is each time I change their water and trim the stems a little shorter, they somehow become even prettier. Their charm never fades, whether tall or short, and they continue to brighten up every corner they inhabit.

Over time, bringing these flowers home has become part of decorating and has also made me notice how each bloom changes the mood of a room. Whether it’s a soft scent drifting through the air or a burst of color by the window, they always remind me to slow down and appreciate the little things that make everyday life feel a bit more beautiful.
