Review: The Obstacle Is The Way

The Obstacle Is The Way Book Cover

Failure shows us the way—by showing us what isn’t the way.

Ryan Holiday, The Obstacle Is The Way

Review

Most readers who familiar with the philosophy of the stoics can tell at the start of the paragraphs that this book comes from that principal. Obstacle is In The Way expands its approach by plenty anecdotes with a bunch of words of wisdom to help us cope with obstacles.

Ryan Holiday divides the main ideas of this book based on how to beat obstacles with three crucial steps: perception, action, and will.

I find more than the first half of this book a lot of cliché repetitive words of advice that I can commonly read in any other self-help book. I almost skip the rest of the book until I feel it get more captivating, specifically when Holiday tells that we barely have control of our life.

Overall, the idea of this book is to suggest the reader “don’t bother, just keep going and doing.”

Well, if you would like to casually read a motivational book, then go for this book. Although, I believe you may come across the better book with the similar theme with out there.

Seeing through the negative, past its underside, and into its corollary: the positive.
